Christmas is a time when we can get caught up in the hustle and bustle. Every year I try to think of a way to make our Christmas a Christ-centered one and a way for our family to slow down. This year we are taking a Journey through Luke together with this new Scripture Advent Countdown.

The best book for an advent countdown
There are so many amazing Christmas books out there. You can find ones that re-tell the story of Jesus’ birth over and over again. I decided to turn to the Book that tells it all the best- the Bible. The book of Luke is such a perfect book to study during Christmas. It’s the perfect countdown with 24 chapters to reflect on every day leading up to Christmas.

Adding to our Christmas traditions
My kids look forward to our advent calendar every year. We have this beautiful felt calendar that my mom made when I was a kid and passed down to me when I had my own kids. It is well loved and a simple way to countdown to Christmas. This year, I am adding a verse from every chapter of Luke to our Advent calendar for the kids to pull out and read, then use that as an introduction to us all siting down together to read through the chapter for the day.

A Scripture Advent Countdown
Christmas can so easily become focused on presents and Santa. We are a house that has fun with all of that side of the holiday as well, but finding ways to be intentional about the true meaning of Christmas is so important to me. I want the love of Christ to shine through the season, but be burdened by the stress of the holiday.
Something we look forward to in our Bible time is having a journal to write down notes, key verses, and prayers in while we go through the Word together. I created a special mini-journal just for our Journey through Luke. Keeping it festive for the season, my kids are so excited to get started.
