Why is having an online homeschool science class for high schoolers so important to me? When it comes to teaching high school, I don’t know about you, but I become a pile of nerves. This stuff actually counts! These grades will be on our kids transcripts and I want to help them succeed.
When it comes to language arts and history, I’m your girl. I will read through all the classic literature, research all the history events and find the most amazing field trips to battle fields, museums, and more.
But math and science? That’s where I’m lost. Outside of observing nature, I’m not a great science teacher. I didn’t do well in chemistry and cannot begin to tell you what’s on the periodic table We can of elements. This is when I’m so thankful for amazing online resources for my kids. The amount of online math options are numerous, but what about online science classes? Here are three reasons why online homeschool science classes for high schoolers can help save your sanity!

I was compensated for my time to write this post. All of my opinions are the honest to goodness truth and I was not required to write a positive review.
1. Online Homeschool Science Classes for High Schoolers gives me confidence as a homeschool mom
Elementary science classes have been fairly easy to handle. The texts we’ve used have been great and the experiments have been easy enough. Earth science? We can make a cute land forms craft. Water cycle? Let’s boil some water and talk about water vapor. Biology? We can trace your body and make cute felt organs to label.
When it comes to the high school level in science, my confidence wanes. I start to worry that I won’t be able to help my kiddos much because I’m just not a science kinda gal. Having a resource like College Prep Science relieve so much of my anxiety!

In College Prep Science, your kids will be able to take Christ-centered online science classes in biology, anatomy, chemistry, physics, and more! They will have access to virtual labs, will use amazing text books along with their studies, and get online instruction from Greg Landry, the creator of College Prep Science (who is also a homeschool dad, himself!) Their science classes will be totally independent, so that will give you time to focus on other subjects with them, other kiddos you may be homeschooling, or just a well deserving break!
2. An Online Science for Homeschoolers that offers in-person labs
So, what about hands on experiments? Virtual labs are awesome. I was able to do my biology class in college all online and I got so much out of it. But, there’s nothing like getting your hands dirty when you’re learning science.
Beakers, and test tubes, and ring stands. Oh, my! Having to have everything on hand for classes like chemistry can be expensive. Not to mention having to lead activities like dissections! College Prep Science handles all of this with their two day intensives that your kids can attend in person!

Guys, check out the map that College Prep Science has for so many opportunities to go to two-day labs around the country! Making molecules, doing dissections, and so many more amazing, hands on opportunities. These intensives are available for Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Chemistry.
3. Get your high schoolers ready to rock their ACT!
One part of homeschooling a high schooler is preparing them for the ACT test. Greg Landry has some awesome advice on taking the ACT verses the SAT, and has an entire ACT prep class (that does count as a high school credit, too!)
Take a look at the ACT prep page of College Prep Science. Mr. Landry explains, “The ‘science reasoning’ section of the ACT (about 25 percent of the test) can be very intimidating and is the section that homeschooled students score lowest on. This section has little to do with science knowledge and is more about reading comprehension, critical thinking, and reasoning. For students planning to be science majors in college, doing well on the “science reasoning” section of the ACT is especially important.”
